The Network aims to bring together women from across Glasgow to provide a forum for the sharing of information and mutual support, to raise awareness of and advocate for the alleviation of social exclusion and discrimination faced by women in Glasgow. The Standing Group on Violence Against Women was set up as a sub-group of the Network, originally to look at funding for Violence Against Women organisations, and continues to date, with representatives sitting on the Board of the Glasgow Violence Against Women Partnership.
We meet every 6 weeks, alternating business and information sessions. Business meetings coincide with the Equality Networks Forum quarterly meetings and allow us to discuss the ENF agenda ahead of the meeting, as well as to progress our work on the aims and objectives outlined above. Our recently established information sessions have been successful and have been a useful way of involving women and engaging with organisations who do not necessarily attend our Business meetings.

It’s an evening so my idea was either the Science tower or the lighthouse for a nice view but for some reason all the cool touristy stuff shuts at 5pm,. The panopticon theatre has some different events on some evenings and it’s a rather quirky venue. Check with central station as from time to time they do tours where they take you up onto the roof and through some disused tunnels but the tours are only a couple of times a year. Are they not doing the Central station tours on a more regular schedule now? What about doing some of the Escape games that have popped up in the city? Or maybe Airspace out at East Kilbride? I second the Escape game although not sure how late it is open as it is great fun, and also The Stand Comedy club.
Airspace is a good shout too, and there is a similar Trampoline park now open in Glasgow called Ryze kinning park area I believe. What about a walk in the botanic gardens or the Grosvenor cinema in the west end? The tours of Glasgow Central Station also take place in the evening and operate on a regular basis – check their website – however be aware that they are booked up in advance you can’t just turn up and access to the roof is not guaranteed.
